Two injured after skidding through fuel of burning Cancun cement truck

Cancun , Q.R. — A cement truck that caught fire in Cancun Friday was left in ruins as firemen worked to put it out. The truck’s cabin began to smoke while in SM 64 from an apparent short circuit. Nearby residents called for emergency assistance, requesting help from the Cancun fire department.

By the time they arrived, the cab and engine were fully ignited. Cancun firemen were able to dose flames, but not before the front of the vehicle was completely consumed by fire. Damage was extensive.

Firemen also had to deal with a motorcycle driver who passed through the area and ended up skidding in the truck’s leaking diesel. Paramedics were called to assess both the motorcycle driver and his passenger. Both were treated on site. Neither required a hospital transfer.
