Chetumal, Q.R. — Project advancements along the Malecón in Chetumal are being made. The Secretary of Public Works reported construction advancements in four sections of the Chetumal walkway.
The entire area is being revamped with new sidewalks and electrical wiring along with wheelchair access ramps and benches along Av. José María Morelos to Av. Francisco I. Madero. The construction of a plaza is also in the works.
Similar work is also being done in section 2, from Calzada Veracruz to Av. Héroes de Chapultepec. Work there will include new sidewalks, lights, benches and the reconstruction of two small squares.
Section 3 that runs from Av. Héroes de Chapultepec to Av. Insurgentes will see new drainage wells added as well new sidewalks, while the area that runs from Av. Insurgentes to Calle Pucté is also seeing major reconstruction.
The Secretary of Public Works says they have begun the demolition of existing sidewalks and the excavation of trenches for electrical lines that will provide power to new street lights. The project will also include new sidewalks, concrete curbs and the planting of grass.
The agency says all work is being carried out in a meticulous manner with the goal of not affecting area mangroves. The entire project is an investment of 139.1 million peso.
