Police count $300,000 cash thrown from Chetumal car window

Chetumal, Q.R. — Through a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, the detainment of five from aboard a vehicle was reported in the capital city of Chetumal.

The Ministry says the arrests took place July 15 when, during a ground survey, two boxes of cash were thrown from the window of a Nissan March before the driver attempted to flee the marked police stop. The boxes and scattered cash were collected, amounting to more than $300,000 USD.

The five inside could not prove its legal origin, which lead to their arrest. Four men and one woman were taken into military custody. Four of the arrested are Colombian, two of which, have been identified as pilots. The fifth person is a Mexican who is alleged to have operated for the Sinaloa Cartel in Quintana Roo.

The arrested have been identified as Rey Rosa N, a pilot, Rubén Rosado N, cousin of Rey Rosa and co-pilot, along with Ana Karen N and Dravin Drant N, all of Colombian origin. Juan Carlos N, Mexican and alleged operator of the Sinaloa Cartel, was also taken into custody.
