Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Nearly two dozen bricks of cocaine has been found on a Puerto Morelos beach. The finding was made Monday by patrolling military personnel.
On July 17, Mexican Navy personnel secure what totaled 23 packages of cocaine in Puerto Morelos. The packaged narcotics were located when Navy personnel, carrying out a land surveillance patrol along the coastline, saw brick-like packages wrapped in black plastic.
Upon inspection, they saw the packages contained a substance with characteristics similar to cocaine. The seized material was made available to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic in Cancun for an investigation.
This month alone, at least 30 packages of wrapped cocaine blocks have been reported found on Quintana Roo beaches. On July 18, patrolling military personnel located one wrapped brick of cocaine on an Akumal beach.
On July 14, a total of 11 kilos of wrapped cocaine bricks were found hung up on rocks on the east side of Cozumel. Authorities have not said if the three findings are somehow related.
