Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firefighters were called to a scrapyard in SM 201 Tuesday evening when nearby residents spotted flames. A large fire was seen burning in the yard in the Haciendas Real del Caribe subdivision.
Firemen arrived at the Ciénega Avenue address and closed the street while they dealt with the flames. According to Cancun firemen, flames consumed at least one vehicle, which is where they say, the fire started.
The fire also ate through other areas of the property, but did not spread. The property is reported to have been a scrapyard that remains closed.
In a statement, Bomberos Cancun reported “Tuesday evening, a report of a fire was received near Super Block 201, Haciendas Real del Caribe, on a property used as a scrap yard. Upon arrival, a fire was confirmed in a vehicle and in various pieces of debris accumulated at the site.

“Thanks to the rapid intervention of our personnel, the fire was successfully extinguished and contained, preventing it from spreading to surrounding areas. Once the situation was under control, the area was cordoned off for safety, ensuring the safety of those nearby and the emergency team.”
