Bacalar, Q.R. — On Thursday afternoon, a local man was found drowned in the Bacalar lagoon. Witnesses reported seeing the man enter the Laguna de los Siete Colores of Bacalar but not come out. Emergency services was made aware of the situation, to which they responded with police and divers from the navy.
When officials arrived at the lagoon, navy divers spent several hours searching for the man. His body was eventually located by divers, who discovered him floating and lifeless. The deceased man has been identified as 39-year-old local watchman, C.E.C.N.
Witnesses told police that shortly after the man entered the lagoon, they saw cloudy water as he began struggling to get out, but unfortunately, he was unable. It wasn’t until dusk that his body was recovered by navy divers.
