Cozumel, Q.R. — Elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) secured another five bricks of cocaine that have been found washed up on a Cozumel beach.
On Monday, patrolling elements located the bricks along the eastern portion of the island, which were found scattered over an area of several meters. The finding of washed up drugs, cocaine in particular, has been frequent since the passing of Hurricane Grace.
On August 19, Hurricane Grace made landfall south of Tulum as a Category 1 storm. Shortly after her passing, blocks of wrapped narcotics began arriving along Tulum and Cozumel beaches.
The last discovery was September 15 when patrolling army personnel located 80 kilos of cocaine wrapped in one large package along a Cozumel beach.
