Government begins registering tourism workers inside Tulum’s Jaguar Park

Tulum, Q.R. — Nearly 200 people who provide tourist services in the Jaguar Park of Tulum  have been certified and registered. Authorities say the move is a way to provide orderly, sustainable and quality tourism in Tulum.

“As part of the actions to strengthen an orderly, sustainable and quality tourism model in Tulum, Governor Mara Lezama led the first delivery of credentials and recognitions to tourism service providers Wednesday,” the state’s CGC (General Coordination of Communication) reported.

195 of approximately 600 workers who provide tourist services in Tulum have been registered September 30, 2026.

According to Lezama, 195 credentials and recognitions were given to service providers from different sectors, including food and beverages, artisans, paramedics, nautical services and non-motorized tourist activities.

The registration is part of a review and validation process that will allow for an official registry of people authorized to carry out tourist activities in this space.

Governor Lezama emphasized that this action represents an important step in consolidating the tourism planning of Tulum and moving toward a model in which tourism activity is developed responsibly with respect for the natural environment and shared prosperity for service providers.

“Today we are taking a firm step towards consolidating organized, sustainable tourism that benefits everyone. This isn’t just about handing out cards. It’s another step towards ensuring the quality of you work, recognizing your history of service, and guaranteeing that travelers will have the confidence to enjoy great experiences,” Lezama said during the Wednesday speech.

Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez, said Wednesday that the final number of registered service providers in will reach 600. Additional Tulum workers from inside the park will be certified and registered in coming weeks.
