The Attorney General of the State, Raciel López Salazar, announced that Investigative Police officers executed an arrest warrant in the city of Mérida for José Marcelino “N”, alias “El Marce”.

“He is in custody for his probable involvement in events possibly constituting the crime of aggravated homicide,” he reported.

López Salazar explained that José Marcelino “N” is a priority target of the State Crime Atlas and leader of a criminal cell in Cancun. An arrest warrant was served on him for aggravated homicide against a male, which occurred in Cancun.

José Marcelino “N” was wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Cancun man who “was killed as he left his home in Supermanzana 524 by two individuals who shot him several times and then fled the scene.”

According to the police investigation, this murder was allegedly ordered by José Marcelino “N” stemming from disputes over drug sales, since the victim belonged to an opposing criminal group.

López Salazar added that José Marcelino “N” was part of the criminal structure once headed by Héctor Elías Flores Aceves, the group’s former leader, who is serving a 50-year sentence for another homicide.

The suspect was involved in drug dealing at nightclubs, bars, and beaches, as well as contract killings, and is likely linked to four homicides committed in April 2023 near a hotel located on Boulevard Kukulcán.

“This incident is also believed to be related to disputes between local drug trafficking groups,” López Salazar noted.
