Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A new bank is being built on the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres that the mayor says, will provide a much needed service. Isla Mujeres mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde has announced the start of construction of a new Banco del Bienestar.
Banco del Bienestar is a President Andrés Manuel López Obrador project started earlier this year. Gómez Ricalde says that after negotiations with the federal government, Isla Mujeres was granted a bank.
She says the opening of Banco del Bienestar will be of great benefit to islanders, as it will offer various services, including savings accounts, payroll, debit and children’s accounts, savings programs for housing, payment of services such as telephone, electricity and water and ATM withdrawals,
In addition, Gómez Ricalde says people will be able to collect support directly from the programs offered by the Federal Government such as the Pension for the Elderly and the Welfare Pension for Persons with Disabilities, among others.
They mayor says the new Islas Mujeres Banco del Bienestar is expected to be operational in mid-October. Banco del Bienestar is part of López Obrador’s plan to build 2,700 branches around the country for the benefit of 25 million families.
