Cancun, Q.R. — A heavily armed man and woman were jailed Sunday after a vehicle search revealed several loaded weapons. The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported on the arrests of Robin “N”, 31 and Alejandra “N”, 36 from Cancun streets Sunday.
The pair were searched along Avenida 135 on the corner of Avenida Mar del Sur in SM 327 after “police officers observed two people, a man who had the grip of a pistol-type firearm protruding from his waist and who was exchanging an object with a woman,” the SSC reported.
Given the events, police approached the two people who tried to escape in a vehicle when they saw police. However, the officers blocked their way and conducted a search.
During the physical inspection, they seized numerous items including a loaded short firearm with 22 mm caliber cartridges, a long high-velocity 223 mm caliber firearm, a Smith&Wesson model M&P-15 cal. 223 with a stocked magazine, a black Uzi-type firearm with retractable stock supplied with a magazine of 20 caliber 380 mm cartridges and a black tactical sports backpack, among other items.
A variety of narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also found during the physical inspection. “Two vehicles, a gray Suzuki and a black Seat Ibiza, were also seized at the scene,” the SSC reported.
