Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two passengers from a Playa del Carmen taxi were taken to hospital Sunday from a two vehicle crash. An ambulance transferred the passengers after their cab was involved in a collision with a municipal police unit.
The intersection collision happened Sunday around 9:00 a.m. between the PDC cab and police truck at CTM and Lilis Avenue. Both vehicles were near the entrance to Villas del Sol when they collided.
There are allegations from the taxi driver that he was cut off by the police unit as he entered the intersection. Two people from inside the taxi were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Municipal Traffic officers were sent to the scene to sort out who was responsible. Westbound traffic on CTM was completely blocked for about half an hour while the damaged taxi, which came to a stop in the middle of the intersection, was towed.
