Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A fatal accident Saturday morning along the federal highway left one person dead after ramming into the back of a parked tow truck. Elements of the National Guard were sent to the scene around 4:30 a.m. after passing motorists reported the accident.
The deceased is the unidentified male driver of the private vehicle who was killed after hitting the back of the parked tow truck at full highway speed. The tow truck was allegedly partially parked on the side of the highway without any lights or safety cones.
The driver of the tow truck was arrested and transferred to police facilities.
