Chetumal, Q.R. — In a brief statement, the Secretaría de Salud said that they have suspended the man found transporting drugs in a State Secretary of Health vehicle. Jesús M was suspended from his driving position with the State Secretary of Health after he was stopped late Friday night and found with 20 drums of narcotics.
The stop was made by the Mexican Army on the Villahermosa-Chetumal highway just after 11:00 p.m. During their search, they located the 20 cardboard drums in the back of the covered company SESA pickup truck.
When questioned, the driver told authorities that he was transporting rapid covid-19 tests. However, inside the drums was marijuana. In an official statement, Governor Carlos Joaquin clarified that the driver was “not assigned (as a driver) for the head of the institution, Alejandra Aguirre Crespo, as has been published in some media.
“The person involved in the events has not been assigned, at any time, as a member of the team in the direct service between the periods of September 2016 to date.
“The detainee for the events reported by the Ministry of National Defense on July 15, 2022, in the community of González Ortega, is a temporary worker of SESA who was hired for a period of 3 months.”
The man and the vehicle were seized and returned to Chetumal for processing.
