Covid vaccines administered in Belize Free Zone not valid in Mexico

Chetumal, Q.R. — Health authorities in Chetumal are informing area residents that vaccines from the Belize border are not valid in Mexico. Federal delegate, Arturo Abreu Marín says vaccines applied in the Belize Free Zone will not be valid within the vaccination scheme of the Mexican Health Institute.

For the past two weeks, hundreds of Quintana Roo border residents went to the Belize Free Zone for covid-19 vaccines. Belize held the free vaccine program from January 15 to 31 where both AstraZeneca and Pfizer were administered.

However now, federal officials in Quintana Roo are saying the vaccines will not be valid through the vaccination scheme of the Mexican Government. People wanting to travel will not be able to print proof of their Belize-administered shot through the Mexico health system.
