Chetumal, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa says the new aqueduct in Chetumal is operating. The new water system will improve the water distribution network in the state capital.
More than 43 million pesos were invested to improve the service, replacing the 58-year-old pipeline.
This State Government project, through the Drinking Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA), meets an urgent citizen need. During the last few years, the people of Chetumal have suffered from low efficiency due to numerous leaks caused by the severe deterioration of the original pipeline.
The new aqueduct has allowed a water recovery of approximately 30 liters per second, which can be used for other sectors of the town of the state capital, benefiting more than 15,000 residents, she said.
