Chetumal, Q.R. — Two Chetumal firemen spent part of their Thursday rescuing a stuck porcupine. The small animal was seen by passing afternoon motorists stuck on an electric line near the Chetumal International Airport.
Two of Chetumal’s firemen arrived at the reported site in a pickup truck from where they proceeded to remove the porcupine. He was eventually brought down from the power line and taken to an environmental centre from where he was released back into the wild.
Several Chetumal motorists made the emergency report after trying to coax the animal down from the power line on their own. When that failed, Chetumal firemen were called in.
