Cancun, Q.R. — Two people were treated for injuries Tuesday evening when their LP gas tank exploded. Cancun firemen, police, paramedics and Civil Protection personnel were sent to an address in SM 521 in response to reports of a home explosion.

Neighbors on Politécnico Avenue called an ambulance after learning two of their neighbors had been injured. According to Civil Protection, a leak in the gas tank valve was responsible for the explosion that blew out the home’s entire bottom floor.
Two people were treated at the scene for injuries sustained from the explosion. Red Cross paramedics transferred one of the injured to hospital for additional medical treatment. Cancun firemen reported containing the fire from the explosion from further damaging other structures.
“Thanks to the prompt response of our emergency services, including Civil Protection, the Cancun Fire Department, the Mexican Red Cross Cancun Delegation, and the Cancun Police, a gas tank explosion at a home on SM 521 was contained, preventing further damage and risks to families in the area.

“Two people were injured and received immediate medical attention. We remind you of the importance of regularly inspecting gas installations and tanks to prevent accidents,” Bomberos Cancun reported.
