Cancun judge again rules against Inteligencia Mexico

Cancun, Q.R. — Former Cancun garbage collection company Inteligencia México, has again been denied reinstatement by a judge. The announcement came after the company filed for protection against the city of Cancun’s decision to cancel its contract.

In the January 21 ruling, the Fourth District Judge declared that the Benito Juárez City Council maintains the power to hire a new company, which in this case was Red Ambiental, to provide the city’s garbage collection service.

It was the second consecutive time a Cancun judge ruled that Intelgiencia México breached its agreed contract with the Benito Juárez City Council.

The judge refused to grant protection to the company since, according to its original contract, it failed to comply with the conditions of the contract which were to have at least 60 garbage collection trucks to be able to provide the service to the city of Cancun efficiently.

Inteligencia México has continued to try for reinstatement after being relieved of its concession in December for breach of contract.
