Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Firemen assisted in the removal of a passenger bus driver that was driven off the road and into shoulder vegetation. The single vehicle mishap was reported Saturday night around 11:00 p.m. when the driver dozed behind the wheel.

Playa del Carmen firemen were sent to the site of the crash on the El Tintal highway near the Palmas Turquesa subdivision. The driver of the bus was traveling toward Playa del Carmen when he made a sudden swerve to the right coming to a stop after hitting a tree.
Firemen were called in since the driver of the bus was found pinned behind the wheel. They used a ladder to access the man after breaking the windshield to free him. He was transferred to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
