Cancun delivery man killed by speeding driver while unloading truck

Cancun, Q.R. — A company delivery driver was killed in Cancun Wednesday after being crushed to death. The man was unloading boxes of products from the back of his company truck when he was hit by a vehicle.

The impact of the hit sent his small truck across the two lane street where it stopped part way on the central median. The man was killed after being crushed between the front of the vehicle that hit him and the back of a parked taxi.

The accident happened around 1:45 p.m. in front of a mom-and-pop shop in SM 251 where he had stopped to unload supplies. Numerous witnesses to the accident told police the driver of the white vehicle that hit him was speeding down the residential road.

Residents made the 911 emergency report. Responders to the accident found the man pinned under the vehicle by a front left tire. Area residents rushed to get a car jack to help relieve the man while they waited for an ambulance, however, responding paramedics pronounced him on scene.

The company delivery man has not been identified. The driver of the vehicle was arrested by Transit Police from the Paseso del Mar accident scene.
