Cancun, Q.R. — The FGE has confirmed the arrests of several men believed to be members of the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación. Their arrests were made at the intersection of Kabah and Chichén Itzá Avenues in Cancun Friday.
The alleged gang members were taken into police custody after a chase that involved the exchange of gunfire. Two vehicles were involved, one of which, a red Jetta, managed to escape police.
However the second car, a dark blue Jetta, crashed and was intercepted by police, which lead to the arrest of three of the four from inside the vehicle. One of the gunmen from inside the car, 19-year-old Daniel N from Zacatecas, was shot during gunfire exchange with police and taken to hospital.
One of those taken into custody is said to be Brian Hiran, a man wanted for the murder of a Cancun police officer from August of 2020.
