Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A young woman died Tuesday morning from drowning off a Playa del Carmen beach. The woman, who has not been identified, was with a group of swimmers when the accident happened.
Her fellow swim mates told police that they had arrived around 7:00 a.m. to practice swimming as they often did off the Colosio neighborhood beach area when strong waves overtook her. When they saw she was in trouble, they pulled her from the water, however, she was without vital signs.
One of the women from the swim group requested help from authorities who arrived only to confirm her death. The woman was said to be in her 20s. Police have not released her name.
