Two adults remain in custody in case of missing Cozumel minors

Cozumel, Q. R. — Two adult males have been kept in police custody after an official arrest over the weekend. The pair were taken into custody Saturday after two missing minors were found inside their Cozumel home.

On Monday, the FGE of Quintana Roo reported that an investigation was started for the probable commission of the crime of corruption of minors. According to their brief statement, “two people of foreign origin, whom at the time of their arrest, were with five teenagers in a private home,” they reported.

“Investigative Police, in collaboration with specialized experts, carry out the corresponding procedures, as well as toxicological examinations to detect illicit substances or alcohol in order to clarify this fact.” The agency says they are still collecting evidence in their investigation.

On Friday, the parents of two 15-year-old boys who failed to return home from a nearby park reported them as missing. Police canvassing lead them to a home where they found the two minors, among others, in the company of the two now-detained adult males.
