Tulum, Q.R. — A pedestrian has died in a highway hit and run in the municipality of Tulum. Late Sunday night, police were made aware of the accident witnessed by passing motorists.
It was around 11:00 p.m. when the unidentified man was struck by a car that kept going. The adult male was left laying on the side of the highway where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The hit and run happened along a section of Tulum highway between two large hotels. Witnesses are reported to have seen the man crossing the highway when he was struck. The impact threw him several meters into the air.
National Guard Highways (Guardia Nacional Carreteras) arrived at the scene to cordoned off the area while the body was removed. Police continue to search for the responsible vehicle.
