Cozumel, Q.R. — Two men were taken into police custody Sunday after being found with several bank cards not in their name. The pair were seen by police approaching the exterior of a bank’s ATM area, but not using it.
They were watched by police who noticed them loitering outside the busy central island banking area door but never entering. After monitoring the two men, police determined their behavior as suspicious and approached the pair for questioning.
The incident happened outside a bank on 10 Avenue between 3rd and 5th South Streets in central San Miguel Sunday. As police began their questioning, the two men became aggressive.
On their person police found five bank cards, none of which are reported owned by either of the men. Both men, who are named Carlos “N”, were arrested and their vehicles, one of which was painted as a Cancun taxi, was seized.
In a statement, the SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) of Quintana Roo reported on the monitoring and subsequent arrests.
The “SSC arrests two suspects involved in theft of cards from account holders in Cozumel. Both respond to the name of Carlos “N”.
“They seized five cards from different establishments, a black Motorola brand cell phone, a black Samsung brand phone, a gray March Nissan brand vehicle and another Alsvin type Changan brand vehicle, white in color labeled as a taxi from the municipality of Benito Juárez, both with Quintana Roo license plates.”
