Puerto Morelos with high occupancy rates for long weekends

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Miguel Cámara Ruiz, the Secretary of Sustainable Tourism for Puerto Morelos reported a 70 percent hotel occupancy rate for the April and May long weekends.

In a Saturday statement, Ruiz said that Puerto Morelos remains the preference of local and foreign vacationers with the high occupancy rates despite the fact it is not high tourist season and only a few weeks after the Easter holidays.

He said that according to figures from the Association of Hotels of Cancun, at the end of April, Puerto Morelos accumulated occupancy rates of 71 percent.

“We continue to implement promotion strategies through our Hola Puerto Morelos website, which shows the activities that can be carried out thanks to the jewels of nature that we have such as the Ruta de los Cenotes, the coral reef and its jungle, part of the experiences that tourists can enjoy,” he said.

Guillermo Morales López, the Coordinator of Civil Protection for Puerto Morelos stated that surveillance on the public beaches of Puerto Morelos is maintained with lifeguards in the Ventana al Mar area.

In addition, there is support from the municipal police, navy and National Guard, which carry out constant surveillance tours to safeguard the safety of beachgoers.
