Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — The Municipal Secretary of Sustainable Tourism of Puerto Morelos has expanded ties to strengthen the promotion and diversification of tourist attractions around the municipality.
The promotions are in coordination with the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres. Miguel Cámara Ruiz, the General Director of Sustainable Tourism of Puerto Morelos, says they are hoping to create new experiences.
He said Hotel Association staff recently participated in the sixth meeting of professional marketing for hotels called “The Art of Training Tourism Professionals”, which was attended by representatives of the Expedia Group company, Anahuac, La Salle and Autónoma de Quintana Roo universities.
“It is very important to create links with all sectors of the tourism industry to promote new projects in our communities such as Leona Vicario or on the Ruta de los Cenotes itself, and that these become new experiences for visitors,” he said.
Cámara Ruiz explained that in Puerto Morelos there are many private properties where parks can be developed since they have cenotes, but professional support is required to turn them into attractions.
“Students with viable thesis works of becoming sustainable projects can participate. In this way, they can support the people of the community so that their properties become productive areas that bring economic benefits to the family with the advantage that they would not have to invest in studies or projects, for which on many occasions, they do not have the resources,” he explained.
He said that the municipality is seeking to diversify tourist products in Puerto Morelos which would be offered through large agencies such as Expedia Group, among other wholesalers to promote growth.
