Puerto Morelos authorities attempt to save badly injured crocodile

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Personnel from Puerto Morelos Civil Protection have rescued an injured crocodile. The large reptile was reported wandering along a sidewalk in the Old Town.

The report to municipal authorities was made by motorists who said the crocodile appeared injured since it was bloody and walking with difficulty. Civil Protection requested assistance from the Puerto Morelos fire department in its capture.

Authorities placed cones around the area since the crocodile had lost a limb in an apparent flight with another crocodile and was unable to maneuver properly. It was transferred to Crococun for emergency medical attention. Bomberos Puerto Morelos, who helped capture the reptile, have not provided an update on the crocodile.
