Playa del Carmen motorcyclist killed after driver of car fails to respect stop sign

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The driver of a motorcycle died Thursday after crashing his bike into the side of an oncoming vehicle. Police were at the accident scene at 125 Avenue and 38th Street in Playa del Carmen around 4:30 p.m. where they found the body of the man laying on the roadway.

According to preliminary information collected at the scene, the driver of the vehicle failed to respect a marked stop at the intersection. As the driver carried though the intersection, the oncoming motorcyclist made contact with the front of the vehicle.

The impact caused him to be thrown from his bike. Paramedics pronounced him on scene. Municipal Traffic Officers cordoned off the area until the arrival of the Public Ministry.
