Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle caused the death of the motorcycle driver Sunday morning.
The two collided along a Playa del Carmen roadway around 8:00 a.m Sunday morning when the driver of the motorcycle was allegedly hit by the pickup. Accident witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle driver perform a U-turn on the roadway when the driver of the truck was unable to dodge the bike, hitting it.
The impact was strong enough to throw the driver several meters off his motorcycle, landing on the pavement where he was pronounced by medical personnel. Family members have identified the body of the young male, who is said to have been around 26 years of age.
Reports say the young man had just dropped his girlfriend off along Ave. Xcalacoco and was heading home to Peten when the accident occurred.
