Playa del Carmen beach bar shut for serving after hours

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Failure to comply with local liquor laws saw one restaurant shut. On Monday authorities closed Soundset Beach Club on 4 Street North after it was found open and serving past the allowed time of 1:00 a.m.

It was during a surveillance tour when elements of the Playa del Carmen Police saw people inside the beach club. Police then requested inspection personnel, who, moments later, arrived and closed the club.

Police reported that three from inside, 27-year-old Fernando N, 28-year-old Sergio N and 24-year-old Damián N were detained for administrative offenses. The beach club will be able to operate again once their fine is paid. Inspectors did not detail how much that fine was.
