Riviera Maya, Q.R. — In the past 14 months, over 3 tons of narcotics have been destroyed by state authorities. The Quintana Roo Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported that in coordination with the Secretary of National Defense, more than 3 tons of narcotics and over 96,000 objects of crime have been destroyed.
The agency reported that the narcotics and crime objects were the result of seizures around the state in just over one year.
“Specifically, in the period corresponding to April 16, 2022, to June 22, 2023, 3.4 tons of narcotics were incinerated among which 2.9 tons were of cocaine, 1.9 of marijuana, 92 kilos of diverse substances and 96,686 objects of crime were destroyed,” the FGR detailed.
These types of seizures are done in coordination with Secretary of National Defense, Secretary of the Navy, National Guard, Federal Ministerial Police, Ministerial Police, Secretariat of Citizen Security and the Municipal Police.
The drugs and objects are destroyed by a supervised burn at the Cancun Military Garrison outside the city of Cancun. During the destruction, agents of the Federal Public Ministry coordinate the identification and carried out the necessary procedures for counting and weighing the items to be destroyed.
The destruction is witnessed by the head of the Internal Control Body, as well as the Federal Ministerial Police, experts from the institution and representatives of the Internal Control Body of the FGR.
