Over 900 administrative arrests made in Quintana Roo during Easter vacation

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Police report over 970 arrests across the state during the Easter holidays. According to the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) de Quintana Roo, a total of 973 people were arrested during the two week holiday period in the state’s 11 municipalities.

Security was increased in popular tourists areas for the arrival of more than 1.2 million visitors. According to the SSP, the Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace, deployed prevention operations throughout the state and maintained vigilance to address crimes and administrative offenses during the Easter holiday period.

The security tours were provided in public schools, bank areas, bus terminals, nightclubs, on beaches and tourist areas. During those two weeks, 973 people were arrested for administrative offenses.

Those offenses included public drunkenness, disrupting public order, consuming alcohol on public roads, aggressiveness, fights, insults to the authority and urinating in public areas.

Using public security cameras of the C5, the SSP says they arrested 97 people who were involved in criminal activities that included business and vehicle robberies, homicide and firearm and drug offenses.

During that same holiday period, the state’s emergency service line received 41,251 calls of which 17,021 were proven real calls for security / medical help or Civil Protection assistance. Another 3,146 calls were for advice on having a safe vacation.
