Cozumel, Q.R. — Engine failure was the cause of 14 people becoming stranded off Cozumel shores Wednesday. Elements from the Navy of Mexico were called for assistance after vessel Victoria stalled in the open sea.
The eight men and six woman aboard the boat were found adrift 9 nautical miles, about 16 kilometers from the coast south of the island. With their larger vessel, members of the Navy arrived and were successful in transferring the stranded crew members to their ship while towing Victoria back to Cozumel.
