Cozumel, Q.R. — A Canadian woman was taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon after a narcotics dog marked her hand luggage as positive. The woman was arrested during a routine passenger search at the Cozumel ferry dock.
The 40-year-old woman had her hand luggage checked by the dog after disembarking from a ferry that had arrived from the mainland of Playa del Carmen. She was traveling with a man when the dog marked her bag as positive.
Inside her hand luggage, police located an undisclosed amount of marijuana. The woman, identified as 40-year-old Angela N from Canada, was arrested after the 1:10 p.m. search. Her unidentified male travel companion was not arrested.
