Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An assailant armed with a screwdriver who attempted to rob a store of its cash was arrested by Playa del Carmen police in the city’s Bellavista neighborhood.
The shop, which is located on 150th Avenue, reported the attempted burglary of the small grocery store where witnesses said he threatened the cashier with a screwdriver. When the frightened cashier turned her back to leave her post to escape, two people inside the store rushed the man holding the screwdriver.
Both received minor injuries from the assailant from his fighting to escape.
Police were quickly notified of the situation and were able to locate the man on Benito Juárez Avenue. Witnesses positively identified him as the assailant from the grocery store.
The man was taken into police custody.
