Islander jailed on drug offences charged with Cozumel murder

Cozumel, Q.R. — A Cozumel man is facing the possibility of life in prison for the murder of an island resident. On Thursday, the State Attorney General’s Office reported that Francisco Antonio “N” will stand trial “for his probable participation in the crime of aggravated homicide committed to the detriment of a male victim.”

According to the FGE, Francisco Antonio “N”, along with another person, entered a home where the now-deceased victim was where they shot him repeatedly “causing his death.” The murder is said to have taken place on August 1 of this year.

The judge ordered Francisco Antonio “N” to remain in informal preventive detention. He was initially arrested in the streets of the island of Cozumel last week for being in possession of illicit substances.

After his arrest, Cozumel Police reported that he was also being investigated for “qualified homicide to the detriment of a victim of reserved identity, which occurred on the island on August 1 of this year.”
