Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A motocyclist alleged impaired while driving lost control of his bike which saw him hit the back end of a van face-first.
Transit police were called to the scene after the male driver hit the back of the private vehicle. Witnesses say the driver of the scooter was traveling at a high rate of speed when he made contact with the parked van, taking out its back window.
The accident happened along Pavo Real Avenue in the Villas del Sol subdivision. The impact rendered him unconscious. The driver of the moto was taken to the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen with serious injuries including the loss of numerous teeth.
Transit police turned the case over to la Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) for the demarcation of responsibilities.
