Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Armed men inside a car who took aim at two motorcycle drivers left one of them dead. The shooting happened on 125th Avenue in west Playa del Carmen Wednesday morning.
Police were sent to the scene around 3:30 a.m. where they found two men laying in the street. One was alive and transferred to hospital by ambulance while the second was pronounced dead.
The deceased man has been identified as Gabriel “A”, the head of security of a large centrally located Playa del Carmen nightclub.
Police have not said if the attack was intentionally directed at either of the men shot. The second shooting victim has been identified identified as Miguel “M”. It is not known if the two men were riding together or if one was the intended target and the second in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Authorities have not commented on a possible motive for the shooting.
