Group of Cancun youths detained on illegal weapons charges

Cancun, Q.R. — Four youths have been taken into police custody on illegal weapons charges. The group was arrested after Cancun police spotted two vehicles with people inside carrying weapons.

According to public security information, the arrest took place between Avenida Obsidiana and Avenida Monte Págalo where the vehicles were seen. Upon a stop and review, Cancun officers located several weapons and ammo along with a ski mask, helmets and cash, among other items.

Watches and cell phones were also found in their possession. Police are investigating the possibility that the group is related to Cancun home robberies. All four were arrested and charged with carrying, manufacturing, importing and stockpiling prohibited weapons, as well as resistance upon their arrests.
