Group accused of intimidating construction workers into the drug trade detained in Cancun

Cancun, Q. R. — A group of seven who are allegedly known to intimidate construction workers into selling narcotics has been arrested. Their arrests were made Thursday by law enforcement officials that make up the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace and Security in Quintana Roo.

The joint operation was deployed in Cancun which resulted in the arrests of the six men and one woman, all of whom were said to use intimidation tactics to force northern region construction workers into the drug trade.

According to the Grupo de Coordinación para la Construcción de Paz y Seguridad Quintana Roo, officers responded to the report of armed men on a Cancun construction site.

When they arrived, they located the group attempting to intimidate workers. One of the bricklayers on the site was alledgly beaten with a board for refusing to sell narcotics.

The group of seven were inspected which resulted in police confiscating a variety of drugs and cell phones.
