Monterrey, Nuevo León — A fugitive on the FBI’s Most Wanted top10 list has been captured in the state of Nuevo León. The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) announced the arrest of José “V” in the northern city of Monterrey.
He has been wanted by American authorities for interstate stalking and criminal association to commit homicide. José “V”, who goes by the alias El Gato, was captured in a joint effort between several Mexican government and state law enforcement agencies.
However, it was the State Investigation Agency of Nuevo León that fulfilled the outstanding arrest warrant against José “V”, who is currently being held in the South Prison of Mexico City until his subsequent extradition to the United States.
José “V” was a Beltrán Leyva cartel lieutenant who has been wanted by both Mexican and American law enforcement since 2018. He is also accused of the murder of a 43-year-old American man from Southlake, Texas in May of 2013.
