Cozumel, Q.R. — A total of four people have been arrested in Cozumel on drug charges after police located more than 50 kilos of marijuana and a large sum of cash. The arrests happened after one man, 23-year-old Daniel N, was stopped while driving his motorcycle.
Initially, he was stopped for a routine traffic review, however, police became suspicious when, instead of stopping, he tried to flee. After catching up with him, an inspection revealed two kilos of marijuana in a fanny pack.
His arrest lead Cozumel police to a house in the El Encanto subdivision several hours later, where, after being granted a search warrant, they entered and detained three more people and secured more than 50 kilos of marijuana, as well as an undisclosed sum of money.
From the home, Cozumel police took two women and one man into custody. The three detained were not identified.
