Cancun, Q.R. — Four police officers were injured after a private truck and police patrol unit collided in Cancun. Authorities reported the accident happened around 1:00 a.m. Monday at a cross street of Nichupté and 127 Avenues.
According to their report, the injured officers have been identified as Miguel AC, Blanca AG, Julio CR and Estefanía GE, who, due to their conditions, were transferred to Cancun hospital.
The traffic report details the driver of a white Nissan, Jesús PP, failed to respect the passing of the responding police patrol unit. As the unit approached, the driver of the Nissan turned onto the main roadway and into the path of the fast-moving police car, sending both into a metal explosion.
The accident was caught on city surveillance cameras, which shows the exact moment the driver of the Nissan pulled into the path of the oncoming police unit. The driver of the truck was arrested.
