Four arrests made and two restaurants shut after week of searches in Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police in Isla Mujeres have located numerous weapons and drugs after a week of searches. After a week of home and businesses searches in Isla Mujeres, four people have been arrested and two businesses closed.

The latest search took place Friday in three buildings, two of which, were shut down. According to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), two Isla Mujeres restaurants were closed down after police located narcotics on the premises.

The searches came after the arrest of four men on Monday. On December 5, police searched a private Isla Mujeres home where they located four weapons, ammo and narcotics. Since the arrest of the four men, three businesses have also been searched.

Those searches took place Friday. The FGE reported that they took place in a restaurant located on Avenida Rueda Medina, which already had closure seals from the municipal authority. In that place, 24 doses of the drug known as cocaine were found.

In the second operation carried out in a bar on Guerrero Avenue, they also found nine doses of white powder, with characteristics of cocaine. In the third search, carried out in a building located in the La Gloria subdivision, they found 55 bags of cocaine and 55 bags of marijuana.

The varying police elements who participated in the searches also located three loaded firearms and a variety of ammo. Two of the three restaurant-bars were shut down.
