Former Cancun store manager settles unpaid debt with merchandise after winning legal battle

Cancun, Q. R. — A former Cancun employee of a major chain store has been paid his legal suit in merchandise. On Friday, the former manager, who took the company to court for wrongful dismissal, won his case after a four-year battle.

A judge ordered the company to pay the former employee 750,000 peso. After the company failed to pay the cash, the employee was given the equivalent in store merchandise, which included appliances, furniture, motorcycles and electronics.

In the presence of police, the former Cancun store manager parked his SUV outside the Tulum Avenue store location and loaded it to settle the store’s debt.

The unidentified former worker was awarded the sum after a Cancun judge ruled in his favor for wrongful dismissal.
