Fishermen catch 248 kilo cherna in Gulf of Mexico

Isla Aguada, Campeche — A career fisherman from the town of Isla Aguada was beaming after catching a 248 kilo cherna (Red Grouper) earlier this week.

The monster-sized fish was caught in Gulf of Mexico waters and towed to shore with the help of his four fishing companions. The fisherman made the catch using an air harpoon. The giant fish was transferred to the pier of Isla Aguada. After several photos, the meat was put up for sale for 350 peso per kilo.

This is the second recorded mega-catch for area fishermen. In June of 2015, a group of fishermen from the same area caught a 220 kilo cherna that was two meters in length.
