Cancun, Q.R. — The State Attorney General’s Office has shut down a financial institution in Cancun after multiple fraud complaints. Dated closure seals of the FGE were pasted across the front face of the building July 20.
The Fundación de Finanzas in Cancun was closed by the FGE after an alleged physical attack on a person who accused them of fraudulent practices while inside the office. That, combined with several dozen complaints lodged against the institution, lead to its closure.
The FGE continues to gather information from victims who have presented contracts they had with the financial company. Citizen complaints claim they are promised loans, but that the financial institution requires advanced payments for “management expenses”.
Customers complained to authorities after several of them forked over between 5,000 and 7,000 peso, but were not given the credit on grounds they were not approved.
