Feds fish 850 kilos of cocaine from Chiapas waters

Puerto Chiapas, Chiapas — The Secretary of the Navy says they have secured 850 kilos of cocaine found floating in the sea off Puerto Chiapas. The discovery was made approximately 150 nautical miles south-southwest of Puerto Chiapas after the detection of an illegal vessel.

The Fourteenth Naval Zone ordered the deployment of personnel, as well as that of units, to carry out maritime and air surveillance patrols. An MI-17 helicopter with marine infantry personnel was also part of the patrol.

By the time officials reached the site, the drugs had been thrown overboard, while the vessel and its crew vanished. Although no arrests were made, 39 bags of cocaine of approximately 850 kilos of cocaine were seized.
